Eastover Park - New Pool|
John Bowman Architect worked with Richland County Recreation Commission in their Phase Three (3) Bond Referendum to design and locate a new swimming pool at the existing park facility. Located in Eastover, South Carolina the new pool facility was designed to make a statement for both the park and local community.
The new 6 lane Junior Olympic size pool is designed to accommodate 100 swimmers. It has both a shallow area, and a kid friendly area that allows for young swimmers and parents to enjoy the pool in a safe setting. The associated pool supporting building includes both men & women toilets with associated showers, a life guard room, storage areas, pool equipment room, and a entry lobby highlighted by a large aluminum and glass window to allow indirect light into the lobby space.
Surrounding the pool are large brick columns with metal fencing, along with scored cement fiber board paneling accents. The new brick veneer blends with the existing gymnasium building, but introduces a new building material to the park environment.
