Elders Pond Fire & EMS Station|
Richland County Emergency Services retained John Bowman Architects to be the design architect firm for this new 9,000 sf Fire and EMS station located Northeast Richland County of Columbia.
Situated directly in a primarily residential and light retail/commercial area the design can be seen by all in the surrounding community. Designed to fit within this residential zone, the basis of the design is anchored by the truck bay for EMS and fire truck with the EMS staff on one side and Fire staff on the other. In plan, the design steps out as you approach the facility
The veneer of the building uses all brick consisting of two colors that are native to the design and construction in the local area. Throughout the exterior all entries and exits are marked by large brick columns with metal architectural brackets atop. On top of the brackets is a traditional hip and gable standing seam metal roof, silver in color, that gives the facility its own identity. The interior spaces include staff offices, lounges, toilets with showers, kitchen and sleeping quarters.
