Mount Anna Baptist Church|
John Bowman Architects was retained by Mount Anna Baptist church to devise a new schematic design for a new church building. Currently, the church has outgrown their existing sanctuary and has moved church services into their family life center.
The church board contacted the JBA team to help them program and design for the new facility. In it, their needs included a new 800 seat sanctuary, children's nursery, first aid room, dressing room, and other support spaces. JBA developed the program to derive at a new 14,000 s.f. facility that compliments the existing church while providing a new element to the site. Our team also worked with the church and consultant engineers to provide the need parking required for the new facility.
Design materials used are a mixture of a brick and stucco veneer. Large aluminum and glass windows are flanked on the front facade to allow natural lighting into the entry lobby and hallway spaces. Also, a series of brick columns, and a non traditional steeple on the front facade mark a sense of arrival.
