North Springs Park Community Center & Baseball Field|
Columbia, SC

John Bowman Architect worked with The Richland County Recreation Commission in their Phase Three (3) Bond Referendum to design and site locate a new community center for North Springs Park, located off Clemson Road, in Columbia, South Carolina

This new building will serve the needs of the surrounding community and existing park to provide space for fellowship, community meetings, as well as recreational exercise classes.  The main interior space is designed to separate into multiple breakout rooms utilizing an operable sound wall.  Also, the center has a kitchen that includes a warming double oven, ice machine, and refrigerator.  Also, with a rapidly growing community, a new 300’ baseball field was designed and located behind the new community center.  Both the new center and ball field are situated new the main entrance to the existing park and serve as a new compliment and anchor to the overall park site.

The exterior skin of the building utilizes a two tone brick veneer with storefront windows.  The roof is two separate sloped standing seam metal roof that have designed roof angles that provide ample window shading into the building and the meeting rooms.
