Richland County Region 7 Sheriff Sub Station|
Richland County Procurement secured John Bowman Architect as the design architect for the new Richland County Region 7 Sheriff Substation. Located off of Screaming Eagle Road, in Columbia, behind Ft. Jackson. This new structure will serve as a satellite hub for Richland County Sheriff's Department to help patrol the surrounding community.
The County approached the JBA design team reference using a new Sprung Structure as the building skin. In such, JBA worked with the manufacturing company to develop an interior design layout that was both conducive to the programmatic needs of the County as well as Sprung Structure. The result was this new 4,400 sf facility that includes staff offices, large square and conference rooms, as well as men and women locker rooms. The interior partitions consist of typical wood frame construction, while the overall building structure consist of tensile fabric and steel framing.
